Aim of the work was to develop a method to reliably test brakes of an elevator hoisting machinery in the laboratory, in order to substitute current type tests done in elevator shaft. Brakes area safety device for the motor, and besides this, they are used as an ascending car overspeed protection means for the elevator system. For the latter one, European harmonised elevator standard EN81-1 requires type tests. Present type tests for elevator brakes are carried out in the elevator shaft by letting car accelerate upwards freely with brakes open, until certain tripping speed has been achieved. After which brakes are released absorbing kinetic energy of the system. This work is intended to be an introduction to the testing method in general, so that test can be carried out basically in any other testing environment. Although EN81-1 does not define the actual method of testing for brakes, it sets the practical basis for the work. In order to study reliability of the equivalent test, reference measurements and error evaluation became essential part of the work. /Kir10 |
