Abstract: There is a need for the office buildings to be as cost effective as possible, regarding the material costs, erection and maintenance. One of the methods of achieving that is to use prefabricated elements in order to limit the time and labor needed for the assembling at the site. Very popular in Scandinavia is the system based on hollow core slabs supported by WQ-beams and composite columns. This solution is both economical and safe. The goal of the study is to decrease the total cost of an office building (measured in Euros per square meter) by changing its static scheme and layout. This report includes background of the calculations, calculation examples and results.
