| Title: | Workstation testing of embedded system protocol software |
| Author: | Markus, Mika |
| Abstract: | This thesis introduces and compares different approaches to workstation testing of embedded system protocol software. Qualities of a good workstation testing environment are defined and based on these qualities a theoretical, example environment is outlined. A commercial workstation testing environment, E-SIM, is introduced and studied against the qualities of a good workstation testing environment defined. In addition, workstation testing is discussed as a testing method comparing its advantages and drawbacks. Workstation testing can never replace testing in the target environment. However, workstation testing can be started even before there is target hardware available. Lack of target hardware is often a problem in embedded system projects due to parallel development of hardware and software. /Kir10 |
