In order to keep track of this thesis has been the content divided in six main parts. After a short, general introduction starts the presentation of published literature in chapter 2 with a discussion of different nozzles and injectors like they are utilized in nowadays application. Aim of this part is to get familiar with these components so that the design features, working environment as well as the working conditions and other specifications are getting clear. Chapter 3 offers a summary of various flow field studies of different injectors and injection systems, respectively, which have been published so far. Spray characteristics as well as their influence on the combustion process are shortly addressed. Supplementary are specific parameters of injectors introduced and their influence discussed. The main idea of this section is to impart sensitivity for expectable physical phenomenon that might take place inside a diesel injector. Moreover, it shall sharp the plausibility sense, which is essential in order to evaluate the results of a CFD calculation. In the third literature part, chapter 4, are more theoretical papers presented. Here, it is possible to find the approach by Hardenberg as well as some of the few published CFD calculations in this area. Aim of this chapter is mainly to illustrate how in other cases general settings have been chosen. After all follows in chapter 5 the CFD calculation itself. Subsequent to a detailed presentation of the problem, are primary the general solution strategies offered. Further is the employed CFD code as well as the required equations, which have to be solved in this context, presented, before in the later sections some of the specific cases are discussed. Accordingly provide these parts with the pre-processor set-ups, the solver settings and the post-processing results. Completed is this chapter in the last section with a summary and evaluation of the performed investigations. Chapter 6 aligns with this last point, whereby in this part a more general survey on the whole thesis is taken. Consequently are at this place also the recommendations and conclusions for future investigations formulated. /Kir10 |
