Image enhancement is an important topic because it is useful in virtually all image processing applications by enhancing the features of images. Wavelet transform is an advanced image processing technique which provides good localization in both time and frequency domain. The image information is distributed in different resolution bands by wavelet transform, and thus the multiresolution representation of images facilitates the enhancement operations to the critical components. Image enhancement is usually applied to blurred or noisy images. Where in this thesis, we take into consideration of inter-band and intra-band relations of wavelet transform coefficients, and apply enhancement to the original images to accentuate the dominant features. The aim is to reduce the significant information lost during compression at very low bit rates so that to get better visual quality of the images. /Kir10 |
