| Abstract: | Quality of mobile camera devices is becoming more and more important for mobile phone manufacturers. The devices must fulfil the same requirements as middle range digital cameras. As new features are being added to the cameras more aberrations appear to the output image due to the small size of the lens system. This thesis focuses on the geometrical correction algorithm and the resulting implementation from this algorithm. Many algorithms have been developed to correct geometrical distortions but their targets were scientific purposes. Algorithms have not been developed for mobile devices that are limited in terms of computational and memory resources. Implementation of the solution algorithm therefore has to have a low level complexity and a fast execution time. Implementation must also be reusable in different embedded systems. Solution to the radial distortion generated by the camera system is presented in the thesis. The solution is designed according to the requirements and limitations mentioned earlier. |
