When the amount of PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) devices was grown, also new, PDA-specific operating systems have been developed. PDA itself limits the implementation of the operating systems; the size of the memory and the display are quite small. The graphic library is a very important part of the PDA-specific operating system. It provides the framework to implement the user interface of the PDA applications. In this master's thesis, a PDA-specific operating system and especially its graphic library was studied. The idea was to find differences between the Nokia's new Communicator product's User Interface (UI) and the UI defined in the studied graphic library. The most critical difference found was that the studied graphic library does not provide the implementation of the Commend Button Area (CBA). The CBA is an essential part of every Communicator application's UI. As a conclusion, the main objective of this thesis was to find an implementation for the CBA.As a result, a new way to implement the CBA was found. Implementing a graphical component is an efficient way to learn a graphic library. Still, the studied graphic library is a very large one and it takes a lot of time and patience to learn it thoroughly. Again, the main idea in using a graphic library is not a pedant knowledge of the software, but to know the main principles. Then it is easier to find the wanted component and also it is easier to locate the error in a problem case. /Kir10 |
