In the area of video compression technology, H.264/AVC is the latest and currently the most efficient video compression standard. The significant improvement in terms of coding efficiency makes H.264/AVC the best candidate video standard for broadcasting of data (data casting service) in DVB-H. The main motivation of this research is to provide reserve information about the video content to the receiver using data hiding, in order to improve the reconstruction video quality without extra channel utilization. The data, which are Tower resolution versions of significant frames of the video sequence, are embedded into the video itself before the H.264/AVC encoder. At the receiver side this embedded information can be extracted from the video to be utilized in error concealment. The goal of this study is not to propose a technique that will provide better error concealment quality than approaches like mature forward error correction, but rather to achieve a bit stream which has an extra functionality by using data hiding for error concealment purpose. |
