| Abstract: | Safety of machinery is very important for modern companies, because professionally skilled personnel have to be kept healthy and motivated to work. Raflatac Oy invests in occupational safety and because of that this thesis has been done. At the beginning of this thesis the coating machine and the process are introduced for easier understanding of the needs for safety devices. The directives and harmonized standards are introduced as deeply as it will be necessary to understand the safety devices and principles. The safety devices and components for coating machines are concerned in their own chapter, which also deals wit safety solutions for programmable devices. A process device, the hazards that they include and the methods for controlling them are concerned in chapters 5-8.As a result of this thesis the safety level of the machines was defined and standards and directives were clarified. Possibilities for using programmable safety logics in coating macgine control was found very low, mainly because of the lack of the field bus link in the process stations at Damatic XD. In addition, this thesis will be used as a brief reference book about safety of machinery and safety devices in Raflatac's designing and maintenance. /Kir10 |
