Abstract: In this work a single precision 32-bit floating point unit (FPU), named Milk coprocessor, has been presented.- Milk is an IP block designed to be attached as a coprocessor in particular to existing 32-bit RISC microprocessors like Coffee RISC developed by Tampere University of Technology and XiRISC developed by University of Bologna, and to any RISC microprocessor in general. The architecture is as much straightforward as possible and several critical parameters of the architecture itself are easily reconfigurable in order to achieve the highest degree of reusability.Milk has been designed providing a VHDL model of it, furtherly synthesized over different physical devices, both ASIC and FPGAs.
