Title: Acoustical design of second generation communicator
Author: Yli-Äyhö, Jussi
Abstract: The first part of this thesis concentrates on developing and verifying the lumped parameter models of the transducers used in communicators. Main emphasis is on microphone modelling and especially on modelling of directional characteristics of an electret-condenser microphone. Also presented is the development and verification of dynamic loudspeaker models for speaker and earpiece simulation. All the models developed were verified against measurement results or known data of the particular transducer.Acoustical solutions considered to be used in Nokia 9110 communicator are presented in the second part of this thesis. Some of these solutions were also used for the verification of the simulation models. As a summary, the final mechanical structures around the acoustical transducers are presented together with final measurement results.
