| Abstract: | Good planning and smooth implementation of the prepared plansform a basis for a successful water supply programme to acommunity. The implementation phase has been found to be facing numerous difficulties which require to be solved. This paper outlines the national concept, principles and strategies of implementing both rural and urban water supply projects. A detailed survey of selected water supply projects in Kilimanjaro Region has been carried out covering their entire implementation cycle. Problem areas have been identified and discussed. Based on this survey and discussions with relevant authorities, recommendations for improvement at the implementation stage of water supply schemes have been proposed. /Kir09 |
