Abstract: Processing of the EEG and EKG signals and, in general, processing of biomedical signals is a vast area of research.-In this thesis, principles of digital signal processing are outlined and selected methods for filter design suitable to biomedical applications are investigated. Implementation of those filters are considered within the framework of the Texas Instruments family of signal processors. A hardware system is designed to interface the TMS320C54x signal processor to the personal computer system and proper software modules are designed to control the system. The processing system is capable of handling 12 channels of data at more than 4k sampling rate each. The system is structurally flexible to allow hardware or software modifications for specific needs.
