Abstract: The purpose of this study was to develop a digital x-ray scatter correction method for mammography images and improve initially low-contrast lesion distinction without use of traditional anti-scatter grid. It is perceived that the deconvolution method effectively removes scatter component from images and increases contrast. Also the smoothened test object edges due to scattered radiation become sharper. Several disadvantages of anti-scatter grid are avoided by using the methods. Patient dose is decreased, mechanical problems with movable grid do not arise and environmental factors are taken into account when toxic lead is not needed in grid manufacturing. /Kir10
