Abstract: Työn tarkoituksena on tutkia silaanipohjaisia putken esikäsittelyliuoksia, joilla voitaisiin korvata nykyään esikäsittelyyn käytetty karsinogeeninen kromiliuos, ehkä myös jopa putken pinnassa oleva epoksikerros. /Kir09The thesis investigates different silane-based primers for the steel surface pre-treatment and the possibility to find replacement for the currently-used, carcinogenic chromate solution. Another aim was to find a pre-treatment method in order to substitute the epoxy layer. The pipes were coated in the company and initial peel tests were carried out to be confident about the success of the coating process. Through these results the following additional tests, hot water soaking (HWS) and/or cathodic disbondment test (CDT) were determined.
