Hirvensalon uusi kirkko ja seurakuntatilat

Abstract

Turun ja Kaarinan seurakuntayhtymän Martinseurakuntaan kuuluvat Hirvensalon sivutoimipisteen kirkko ja seurakuntakeskus ovat osoittautunueet kooltaan riittämättömiksi vauhdilla kasvavan asuinalueen tarpeisiin.

Seurakuntayhtymän tavoitteena on saada rakennutettua 300 hengen kirkkosali oheistiloineen palvelemaan yhä kasvavaa Turun saarten (Hirvensalo, Satava, Kakskerta) asukasmäärää joko uudelle tontille saarten alueella tai laajentamalla ja uusimalla olemassa olevaa Hirvensalon kirkkoa ja seurakuntakeskusta.

Laadin diplomityökseni suunnitelman Hirvensalon uudeksi kirkoksi ja seurakuntatiloiksi. Ratkaisussani olen vapauttanut olemassa olevat vuonna 1963 valmistuneet, pienimittakaavaiset ja kaupunkikuvallisesti syrjässä seisovat, Hirvensalon kirkon ja seurakuntakeskuksen tilat lasten ja varhaisnuorten palveluille omaksi kokonaisuudekseen ja sijoittanut uuden kirkkosalin muine seurakunnan tarjoamine paikallispalveluineen näkyvästi saman tontin avoimeen nurkkaan aktiiviseksi osaksi saarten pääväylän, Kakskerrantien, sekä Moikoisten palvelukeskuksen maisemaa.

Vaikka suunnitelmassani olemassa oleva seurakuntakeskus on jätetty ennalleen metsäiselle kukkulalleen, on se toisaalta pyritty tuomaan entistä selkeämmin esille, osaksi tontille muodostuvan keskeispihan seurakunnallista maisemaa.

Turun ja Kaarinan seurakuntayhtymän tontille suunnittelemani uusi kirkko seurakuntatiloineen tarjoaa maamerkkimäistä kiinnekohtaa vilkkaan Kakskerrantien maisemaan, pyrkii ilmaisemaan seurakunnan ja sen edustamien arvojen läsnäoloa yhteisössä sekä tarjoamaan kohtaamispintaa saarelaisten ja seurakunnan välille. /Kir10

The congregational spaces of Hirvensalo church and parish centre in Martti parish within the Parish Union of Turku and Kaarina have become too small for the expanding needs of the fast growing residential area of Hirvensalo.

The Parish Union is searching to resolve the problem either by extending and renewing the congregational spaces at the present church center or by constructing a new 300 person church with additional spaces built on another location on the Turku islands (Hirvensalo, Kakskerta, Satava).

I have designed a new church and parish center for Hirvensalo as my thesis project.

In my thesis work, I have attempted to solve the spatial problems of the church by allocating the existing buildings (completed in 1963) to the childrens’ congregational activities and by placing a new church along with the rest of the parish spaces in an open and active position on the open corner of the site. The new church center forms a land mark in the landscape of Kakskerrantie, the central road of the islands and the commercial centre of Moikoinen. The old building has been treated gently by letting it stand alone on its forest covered hill, yet it has been given a more prominent role than before by forming it into an element for the new central courtyard. The new church with its congregational spaces forms a new focus point for the Kakskerrantie landscape. It aims to express the presence of the congregation and its values within the community and to form a connection point for the local population into the activities of the parish.
