Abstract: The use of digital human models has increased in the last few years, as the computer calculation capacity has developed to a sufficient level. Digital human models are used in many different areas which involve human-machine interaction. As models have become more accurate, they have also become more complex and more difficult to control. Motion capture systems have been developed to offer a fast way to control complex human model with authentic human motion data. One problem in the utilisation of motion capture systems is that the motions of the human model do not necessarily follow accurately the motions of the performer. One of the base requirements for to achieve this is that the size of the performer and the human model is the same with sufficient accuracy. In this thesis, a calibration method was generated to measure the size of the performer. The method implementation consists of a measurement software, which the links of the performer, and a scaling software, which scales the size of the human model to correspond to the size of the performer. The measurement software measures the size of the performer with a minimum amount of sensors and without any preliminary measurements. Furthermore, the accuracy of the motion capture system and the software were measured and evaluated. /Kir10
