Abstract:
|
Communication protocol between the measurement device and the PC computer is needed for transferring measurement data, process control data and controlling the communication error situations. This thesis examines the structure of communication protocols, communication rules and develops a new communications protocol. The goal is to create a protocol, which is as efficient as possible and is also suitable for use with low power microcontrollers. This thesis is divided into two parts: In the literature study part and the developing part. In the literature study section the common features of communication protocols is explained. The OSI model and the HDLC protocol are explained. The HDLC protocol is one of the commonly used communication protocols. In the second part the development of a new communications protocol is described. Protocol design begins of the planning of the design of rules. The next step was creating a requirement document. Finally the physical communication media, communication frames, error control messages and flow control is defined. Work shows that the developed communication protocol is an efficient and functionally meets the requirement document specifications. Validation of the design shows that developed communication protocol is suitable for use in medical measuring equipment. /Kir10 |
