dc.description.abstractThe Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) is the simplest supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (SM). It predicts 4 additional Higgs bosons, including a charged Higgs. If the charged Higgs is lighter than the top quark, the main production methods are tt → bW±bH∓ and tt → bW±bH∓. If it is heavier than the top quark the main production method is pp → t(b)H±. It is searched by the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This thesis examines the methods required in the detection of this new particle. The goal is to evaluate the current results and predict future developments. This thesis is divided into three parts. The first part presents the theoretical background of the SM and MSSM. The second part describes the experimental procedures used by the CMS group at the LHC to detect the charged Higgs. The third part presents theoretical exclusion limits in the Higgs sector in the mhmax benchmark scenario. The 95 % exclusion limits are given as Brazilian flag plots for tanβ as a function of mH± and mA. For the light charged Higgs, mH± < 150 GeV was excluded, leaving a triangular area in the range 3 < tanβ < 22. For the heavy charged Higgs, a triangular area in the range 32 < tanβ < 60 was excluded.en
